It is extremely
important that you enjoy what you have. Think about it. Meditate on it.
Concentrate on it. For if you don't you will
soon be thinking, meditating and concentrating on what you don't have.
The old slogan "accentuate the positive" is sound. It is essential that we heed its advice if we want to be happy. The Bible puts it this way: Sing and make melody in your heart(Ephesians 5:19).
Many people accentuate everything that is negative about their lives and the world in which they live. Perhaps they pride themselves in knowing what is wrong with everything. They hurt themselves, and if permitted, everyone around them. Don't allow yourself to be drawn into their web of unhappiness. Philippians 4:8 tells us: … if anything is excellent or praiseworthy– think about such things.
If you spend your life concentrating on the good there is in the world, will you have any influence over others? Yes! In the first place, people will listen to you. Nearly everyone wants to avoid those people who persistently concentrate on everything that is wrong with their situation or with humanity. Men and
women around you are tired of hearing
about the failures of mankind. All of us realize that there are gigantic problems in our society. But we also want to know solutions.

by Merlin Carothers
If you are unable to walk, concentrate on
what you can do. Can you see, hear or laugh?
Perhaps you have an unhappy marriage.
Do you and your family enjoy good health?
Rejoice in that! You may dislike your job – but at least you are not in a hospital or in prison– and you are able to feed your family with your wages. Be glad every time you pass the potatoes at dinner!
If someone you love doesn't return your
affection, think often about how much Jesus
loves you. His perfect love can warm and
comfort your heart. Regularly revel in the
bliss of knowing He loves you exactly as
you are.
Has God given you the wonderful gift of
loving others? Do you have the means of
doing something to help other people?
What an opportunity! What a reason for
living! Enjoy what you have! II Corinthians
9:8 tells us that God is able to give us
more than what we need. All His grace and all His gifts are for us.
God gave us many of His promises
through a man who endured endless sufferings during his entire Christian life. Yet Paul also experienced great joy in Jesus his Savior - because he had learned to enjoy what he had and to be content in every situation. |

I overheard a
Christian
brother explode in anger at a friend of mine. I was stunned! How could he do such a thing? Anger began to boil up in me as I thought of the gentle spirit of my friend.
"Well, I'll just set him straight," I thought."He needs to be told how unchristian his behavior is! In fact, this is a good time to tell him a few more things I don't like about him. He'll think twice before he unloads on her again."
Oh, no you don't, the Holy Spirit whispered.
"But, why not, Lord? You know he's wrong to do that. Let me set him straight." And I stewed in righteous indignation.
Would you speak to him in the spirit of My love?
"Well, no, I guess not."
Do you understand how he feels?
"I understand I'd like to punch him in the nose. I'm sorry, God. I'm just so angry with him. Don't You see how hurt she is?"

You can't see to get the speck out of his eye, My child, until you have taken care of the log in your own eye.
"But he has such a bad attitude, Lord. You know that's more than just a speck!"
Mary, you are not responsible to "set anyone straight." You are responsible to Me for your attitudes, and your reactions. If you speak to him now, it would be with your flesh, not by My Spirit. Do you really want that?
"But…well, no Lord, not really. I guess I'd be sorry later."
Mary, My child, if you will take care of the correction I give you, you will not have time to try to straighten anyone else out.
I guess the message I'm trying to share today is if we cannot speak in loving wisdom, it's best to say nothing. |

Praise News is the best news for anyone to learn how to continue to praise God and rest all things in His care. If you ever stop publishing Praise News each month I have most of the previous ones to read again.
JEAN, MD
All the books on praise are lifechanging and a wonderful message from Christ. I give praise and thanks to the Lord for the wonderful gift you have given us through these books. I want to spread the message of praise and the Word of Christ so if you have any books that can help us to do that I would be happy to accept them. BOB, NEW ZEALAND
In our home school we have read Prison to
Praise and Power in Praise for part of our devotions,
along with the Bible. Now my 14 year old son always reminds me to praise God for everything, especially the bad. God is using him to change our hearts on how we respond to everything that gets thrown at us! LISA, IA
I enjoy Praise News and then I pass them on.
I am 81 now and unable to do what I used to but I can praise God even when I hurt. God bless you and Mary. HELEN, IN
I read Prison to Praise, Power in Praise, and
Praise Works! when my family was going through a difficult situation. These books were like a shot in the arm and I joyfully praised God for the situation. I know He is working it for good. These books are never out-dated. JANELL, SD
I have given your books to many people.
Thank you for writing these books, they have blessed so many. JUAREEN, PA
My life was saved from destruction by
praising God for everything. The joy of the
Lord is the key! JANET, NY |
This letter is to express my gratitude for the
life-changing books you have sent for our jails.
I read in the March Praise News about your
prayer when you respond to requests for free
books, and it really touched my heart. Your
generosity has brought hope and transformation
to many people. May God bless you for
keeping in mind those whom society forgets.
DELIA, RELIGIOUS MINISTRIES COORDINATOR, TX
Please keep my name on the Praise News. I
appreciate it so much and after I have read it
several times, I pass it along to a friend, who
also passes it along. JEANNE, MI
We express our deep gratitude for your
donation of books. These books will have a
beneficial impact on the inmates who read
them. My sincere thanks to you and your team
at the Foundation of Praise for the compassion
you show for those incarcerated in prisons.
CHAPLAIN, NORTH CORRECTIONAL CENTRE, CANADA
Thank you so much for the books you sent to
our Pregnancy Aid. Our pregnancy resource
center is the busiest center in Detroit. Please
know that your message of hope will be shared
with many. SUZY, MI
I am in prison on a five to life sentence. I was
so lost, scared and desperate. I saved enough of
my medication to kill myself. Someone loaned
me From Fear to Faith. Your book saved my life. I
threw the medication down the toilet. Can you
please send me my own copy of From Fear to
Faith and Prison to Praise? I am attending our
church services and starting to read the Bible.
Thank you for saving my life. KRISTA, UT
You may be the person who provided this book and a new life to Krista. MERLIN |
